Namaste Parents!
We can’t believe how fast October has flown by! It has been wonderful getting to know you and your children. October has been a busy month filled with festivities and fun. Looking back at some fun events, we had our Gollu decorations where Vidyarambh parents came forward with all the creative ideas and decorated the Vidyarambh gollu with the traditional Indian gollu dolls, revived the dolls with Indian costumes, got clay dolls handmade by the parents themselves.
We celebrated the Aksharabhyasam ritual also known as ‘Vidyaarambham’ which literally means starting of education. Parents hold their child’s finger and make them write ‘Om’ on a thali/plate with grains of rice & thus children embark upon a new journey of taking formal education. We had children, parents, and even grandparents participate and be a part of the event.
Moving on to the second half of the month, we had Diwali. Undoubtedly the most celebrated festival in India, now being celebrated across the globe too! As part of Diwali festivities children at Vidyarambh, children participated in rangoli decorations, Diya making, Ladoo making (dessert) and even got a traditional Mehendi tattoo on their hands.
Towards the end of the month, we welcomed the fall season with a pumpkin patch and later celebrated Halloween. Children at Vidyarambh got to enjoy their own pumpkin patch in the school, for a whole month. They explored the pumpkin in all possible ways-created pumpkin volcanoes, carved the pumpkin and had many other learning activities with the pumpkin. Later, on Halloween, Vidyarambh had a Halloween parade where children dressed up as princesses, witches, superheroes, and what not! Teachers too got into the festive spirit & dressed up as crayons to amuse kids.
